Women Blogging for Peace, Georgia

Women Connecting for Peace Quilt
Invited by UNWomen to undertake another creative project, this time in Georgia, ActiveArt worked with two groups of conflict-affected women. One group had been affected by the recent conflict with Russia in 2008, while the other group were living with the effects of an 18 year frozen conflict between Russia, the breakaway territory of Abkhazia, and Georgia. In the quilt and blog they created in ActiveArt workshops, they highlight the most critical issues of their experiences, and make a strong case for increased participation of women in conflict resolution and post-conflict management. The blog is an ongoing testament to the experiences and ideas of the women and their communities.
